Our History

The SVFC was incorporated in 1969 as a not-for-profit corporation to provide fire suppression services under contract to the Incorporated Village of Saltaire, and when called upon, to assist neighboring communities.

 

In 1986 the SVFC was the first fire department to provide an ambulance and Emergency Medical Services on Fire Island.

Our Mission

The mission of the SVFC is to protect and preserve life and property from and during fires, medical/rescue, and other emergencies as may occur in the Incorporated Village of Saltaire, and to foster interest in and to uphold the welfare and traditions of the fire service. This is done 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Apparatus

The SVFC currently has two Engines, one utility rescue truck, three fire/ems first response mules, one ambulance and a Chief's/Staff vehicle.

Learn what fire safety mean here, at Saltaire Volunteer Fire Company.  The Village of Saltaire provides each homeowner with a Fire Safety placard which includes excerpts from the Village Code.
